    Regarding saving seed from the leeks, my understanding is you don't want to keep seed from plants that bolt because you'll just be more likely to have plants that bolt next year. You want to save seed from the ones that flower latest. Personally I would just chop the flower from bolting alliums.

    I've had the same problem with trays having the perferct fit. What I do is leave one cell empty. Then I can use that cell to bottom-water, and then when I come to lift the tray out I can grab it from that cell.

    For your tight fitting seed starters, lay a couple long pieces of ribbon along the bottom before dropping the inserts in, making sure the ends of the ribbon stick out. Then you can lift the ribbons and they will lift/support the inserts.

    Wormwood grows to the size of a large shrub, with a woody stem. I put in two small plants at my allotment, and removed one after a year. The other is the size of a large rounded bush. I'm not sure if it has deterred any pests, and certainly not yellow meadow ants who like to build nests there.

    The garden has really come on and is looking lovely . Those foxgloves, so worth the wait for them to pop. The plant by the Oxeye daisies (the little purple one) may well be Honesty, from your seed mis possibly. It is other great one for the pollinators, the seeds heads are so pretty too and great for dried flower arrangements. It will self seeds too. I think Ranunculus are related to buttercups which is probably why the Creeping buttercup looks very similar. I have lots of that in my garden but keep it in check because it can become a nuisance. I have a big patch in my woodland wild fernery area and just let it do its thing.

    Good video - garden anxiety is real, I went to Devon for a long weekend recently and all my warm season crops are still in little pots and in desperate need for repotting but I didn't have time or the compost to do it so just topped up the water trays and hoped they would be fine for 5 days. And the sun came out and the greenhouse got very hot. First thing I did when I got back was rush out to check the greenhouse temp and the plants, but everything survived and the chillis had grown massively despite being in little pots. Cornish gardens are like no other, the climate allows for plants to thrive that may not in other parts of the UK. Glendurgan (National Trust) is stunning and has amazing views across the Helford River a very lush rainforest valley feel and a beautiful wildflower meadow and bluebells galore. I love ornamentals and flowers but am very drawn to any garden that advertises a kitchen garden or veg garden. A lot of the NT properties often have beautiful and productive kitchen gardens. I have seen some amazing pumpkin patches in late summer in some and sunflowers so tall! You should take a look at the National Garden scheme website - this is where private gardens are open for charity quite often and there are a real variety to choose from. ngs.org.uk/ Often there will be homemade cakes and refreshments available which I think is a important part of visiting gardens heehee 😊😊

    The hot compost sure lived up to its name. The lettuce and radishes in the tunnel! Yuge! 😄The fact that it gets harder and harder to film in the greenhouse feels like a good problem to have though hehe. My parents were "confused" when I started growing chillies since I never grown anything before and couldn't keep house plants alive if my life depended on it 🤪Think I've seen someone else grow those black and white beans. They sure look cool. Haha I kind of have the same with my chiliplants. I even skipped going on "conferences" (aka "party trips" with work) cause I've had no one to take care of my plants at the height of the season (don't really feel like asking my parents to go 40 km one way to water 🤪) and I sure as heck will not risk what I spent the last ~6 months babying hehe. And grats on the yellow rattle! 🥳

    Really useful JB, thanks. I thought you said early in the video that you shouldn’t spray it on salads or brassicas, leaves that you would eat basically? Did I get that wrong as later on you did spray them?

    • @JBNat
      @JBNat 2 дня назад

      Yes good points. The salads I were spraying were a bit of an experiment because they were so aphid invested. The brassicas are early enough that I wouldn't be eating the leaves (and a lot are broccoli). People are mixed about this, some say if you wait 2-3 weeks to eat it then it's fine, others say once you've sprayed you'll always taste it. I've personally switched to drenching the soil (have another video on that) which makes this not an issue :)

    • @user-jj9sg5fu1e
